Crochet Wrap Pattern: Striking Striped Ruana
I really do like this ruana. It is very versatile and can be worn in several different ways — crossed in the front, open in the front, or one front panel over the shoulder. It fits a lot like a rectangular poncho, except that it is open in the front. As you can see from the photos, it has a beautiful drape in the back. The body of this ruana is worked as one continuous piece, and then the horizontal stripes are worked along the bottoms of the two front panels. The design utilizes half double crochet stitches (worked in back loops) and wrapped double crochet stitches. Detailed photos and instructions explain the wrapped double crochet stitches, just in case you are not familiar with them. They are not difficult.
